Welcome to Chicago and welcome to the 39th Annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN). Still full from last night’s deep-dish pizza, we hopped on the train en route to McCormick Place. With approximately 30,000 people in attendance (40,000 members – as reported this morning by the SfN President Robert Carew), SfN is the largest scientific meeting in the world. McCormick Place is massive, and appears like a combination of a warehouse and a shopping mall. After picking up my conference materials – including my flashy SfN Social Media ribbon – we wandered around the grounds for a short while until we found a place for the first lecture (Dialogues between Neuroscience and Society), deep in the sea of chairs and video screens. Stay tuned, updates from lectures and posters of the day to follow.
